Your Appointment

You will need a current referral for your appointment. This may be from your GP or another referring doctor. Please contact us if you are unsure if this has been sent.

It is helpful for your doctor if you bring an up to date list of your medications, especially if it is your first appointment.

Our staff try to run on time wherever possible. However, given the unpredictable nature of healthcare, sometimes there may be a wait prior to your appointment.

We understand that unexpected cancellations sometimes need to be made. If you are unable to make your appointment, please advise us with as much notice a possible. We will be happy to reschedule your appointment to a more convenient time.

Outpatient Services:

• Most of our outpatient services attract a partial medicare rebate, however an out of pocket fee (a gap) will usually apply.

Inpatient Services:

• None of our doctors charge a gap for inpatient services. However, sometimes there will be fees charged by other doctors and the hospital which may not be completely covered by your private health insurance.

The Hobart Heart Centre is located within the Hobart Private Hospital:
Suite 2, Ground Floor, 33 Argyle Street Hobart

To find our rooms enter the Hobart Private Hospital using the main patient entrance off Argyle Street, you will enter onto the Lower Ground Floor of the Hospital. Our rooms are located on the Ground Floor, so use the lift or stairs and come up one floor to the Ground Floor, from the lift or the stairs turn left and you will find our entrance.

Parking is available in the either Market Place (entrance off Market Place via Collins Street) or Argyle Car Parks (entrance off Argyle Street).

Patient drop off and pick up is allowed with five minute parking on the front ramp of the Hobart Private Hospital.

The Hobart Heart Centre opens at 8.30am Monday – Friday. We close at 5.00pm Monday – Wednesday and Friday. Our rooms are open later on Thursday evenings to accommodate the clinic of Associate Professor Phil Roberts-Thomson .

We also offer a Saturday morning clinic (most weeks) with Dr Paul Macintyre. Please check with us for availability.
