Blood Pressure Monitor

This test is performed to give your doctor the best idea of how your blood pressure behaves over a 24 hour period. It is used in addition to readings that have been taken during a consultation or those which you might take at home if you have a home blood pressure monitor.

It involves a blood pressure cuff remaining around your arm for the 24 hour period. The cuff will automatically inflate at set intervals (often every half hour) and record what your blood pressure was at that time. It connects to a small computer that can be attached to your belt that will keep the recordings.

You will pick up the monitor from the Hobart Heart Centre and then drop it off the following day.

Your doctor will then go through the results with you at your next appointment.
